Electric Toothbrush Giveaway- $160 Value {IL Residents Only}

Many parents don’t know that children should visit the dentist within six months of getting the first tooth – and no later than the first birthday. In fact, Illinois children don’t visit the dentist, on average, until they are 3 ½ years old.

A visit by age 1 allows you and your child to develop a relationship with a dentist, which can help set a foundation for good oral health and detect potential dental problems before they progress. Your little one could have pain in one of his or her teeth, but may be too young to tell you.

The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation is kicking off “Dentist by 1”, a statewide public service campaign to educate parents about the benefits of taking their children to the dentist by age 1 and to encourage them to schedule a visit.

GIVEAWAY:

In conjunction with the campaign, the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation is offering one of my readers an electric toothbrush ($160 value) to help promote good oral health! (Open to Illinois residents only)

MANDATORY ENTRY:

Leave a comment telling me about your child’s first trip to the dentist or something funny about their oral health care habits in the comments under this article.

  1. Our dentist wore one of the lights around his head and it scared
    our oldest son, so he got out of the dental chair and hid behind the
    chair that I was sitting in!
    Many thanks, Cindi

  2. My daughter first trip was amazing. SHe loved going to the dentist and to this days, she still loves going.ckaput@sbcglobal{dot}com

  3. The first time we took our little one to the dentist, we almost needed the jaws of life to pry her little mouth open. She had it pretty tightly closed!!!

  4. my son has braces now and literally could never brush his teeth again if I would let him – it is terrible!

  5. We literally had wrestling matches each day to brush our little guys teeth until we got him a Thomas the Tank Engine toothbrush!

  6. Mandatory Entry: Unfortunately my six year old daughter has not been to a dentist yet, due to our state insurance. However, I find it very funny that she “forgets” to brush her teeth until she is already in bed. She makes it an excuse to get out of bed.

  7. Many of my daughter’s roots of her teeth never dissolved so they would not fall out on their own. She had to have many baby teeth extracted and the undissolved roots were gigantic!

  8. On my daughter’s first trip to the dentist she was given laughing gas and she asked really goofy questions the whole way home.
