I’m Learning To Eat Healthier #KnockOutTheFat challenge

This past week was by far the busiest week I have had all year. I ended up eating out a lot with family because my little sister was in town and I went to three birthday parties. I ended up gaining one pound this week and currently weigh 188.8 pounds and have a BMI of 30.5. I was really disappointed I didn’t  lose weight but I was also proud of myself. I was proud that I had made some good food choices throughout the week…

-At party #1 there was no cake. At  party #2 there was cake and I had two bites of the strawberry filling. At party #3 there were two cakes and I had half a piece of one of them. In the past I would have enjoyed large pieces of cake and at the party with two cakes I would have *had* to try both.

-At my brother’s party there were many appetizers and I didn’t eat any of them. For dinner we had lasagna and I wanted seconds of it because I was still hungry but I chose to eat seconds of the vegetables instead.

-When I went to the movies for the screening of Pirate’s of the Caribbean I would have normally ate a whole bag of candy. I allowed myself a handful of Reese’s Pieces.

As you can see, I ate some unhealthy foods this past week but I am learning to control my eating and practice moderation. That lesson alone was more valuable than the weight loss would have been because I am learning healthy eating habits that  will extend beyond this challenge.

(Disclosure: I am part of the George Foreman Knock Out The Fat Weight Loss Challenge. I am being compensated for participating in this challenge but all thoughts are my own.)

  1. Good for you for making smart choices, I’m sure being around all that was tough. It really is all about the small changes and like the turtle says “slow and steady wins the race”. Keep it up! Believe me I know it’s rough but very do-able, I’ve lost 85lbs since 2010 and it was (and is) tough but so worth it. Good luck!!

  2. You don’t know how happy it makes me to hear this! You are so right, learning these lessons is so much more important than gaining 1 pound this week. The changes you are making will lead to long term weight loss and an overall healthier life. So proud of you!!

  3. even though you didnt lose your still learning and thats good great job on limiting your sweets this week has been rough cause even though i know to watch what i eat the impending time of the month cravings take over and im overeating.. have a great week

  4. This journey is a mental and emotional one as well as physical. you are learning how to handle “life” moments with moderation and I couldn’t be happier for you! Sometimes we GAIN more than we LOSE and you are doing GREAT!
